Reptile Categories

Group your reptiles and set their defaults

On this page
  1. Defaults for new reptiles
  2. Apply defaults to reptiles you already have
  3. Delete a category

Reptile categories are the groups in Home’s Categories filter. Species is the recommended choice.

  1. Select Add category
  2. Enter a Name
  3. Fill in any defaults
  4. Select Add category

Select a category to rename it or change its defaults. To move a reptile into one, choose the Category in the reptile’s Update form, under Housing.

Defaults for new reptiles

A default fills a new reptile’s field when you pick its category. A field you’ve changed is left alone, and the form says Filled from beside the ones it set. Defaults also apply when you clone a reptile or add hatchlings.

  • Temperature range and Humidity range: Such as 78-82 and 55-65
  • Feed every and Full substrate change every: In days. Blank or 0 means no default
  • Incubation: In days. It suggests a clutch’s due date when its mother is in this category and neither her own hatches nor her species’ say yet

Apply defaults to reptiles you already have

Saving a category’s defaults never changes its reptiles. To put them on the ones you have, select the category, then Apply to animals. It appears once the category has defaults and reptiles.

  1. Choose one default. Each is applied on its own
  2. Check the reptiles. Those with the field blank are checked, and the list shows each one’s value now and after
  3. Select the button at the foot, which names the default and the count, such as Apply Feed every to 3

Sold, deceased and inactive reptiles aren’t listed.

Delete a category

Delete category moves its reptiles to Unsorted, which can’t be renamed or deleted. Nothing else about them changes.
