Log a Weight, Cleaning or Other Event

Record anything other than a feeding or a dose

On this page
  1. Log a weight or length
  2. Log a cleaning
  3. Log a shed
  4. Log handling
  5. Other events
A defecation is logged from a reptile’s page.
  1. On the reptile’s page, select the + button
  2. Select Log event, then the kind of event. Each button shows when you last logged one
  3. Fill in the form. For an earlier event, change When
  4. Select the log button, which is named for the event, such as Log cleaning

Feedings and doses have their own pages. See Log a Feeding and Log Medication.

Log a weight or length

  1. The number alone, such as 85 or 85.5
  2. The unit, initially set to the reptile’s own
  3. The last entry, for comparison
  4. When: Initially set to the time you opened the form
  5. The log button, which shows what it will save

Lengths don’t set a reminder. Weights use the reptile’s Weigh every.

If a number looks wrong: SnekLog asks before saving a new entry that’s more than 5 times above or below the last one. Choose Save as with the unit you meant, or Go back.

To fix a unit later: Open the entry from the reptile’s History, choose the unit and select Save changes. Only the label changes, so to turn 450 g into kilograms, also enter 0.45.

Log a cleaning

Choose what you did under What was done. A type marked resets starts the cleaning reminder over. Any other type leaves the reminder where it is.

To choose which types reset it, see Events & Categories.

Log a shed

Choose the stage under Where in the cycle. A shed stays open until you log Good Shed or Bad Shed.

The four stages
StageWhat it does
Pre-ShedStarts a shed, as pre-shed
In ShedStarts a shed, or moves it on to in shed
Good ShedEnds the shed: it came off clean
Bad ShedEnds the shed: stuck or patchy

SnekLog estimates each reptile’s next shed from the middle value of its last 5 cycles. It needs 2 logged Good Sheds or Bad Sheds to start.

While a shed is open, it reads like day 3 of ~6, the day it’s on and about how long it should run. That length is the middle value of the last 5 sheds where this stage was logged. Until there is one, it’s 6 days for In Shed and 8 for Pre-Shed. A Good Shed or Bad Shed logged with no stage before it doesn’t count toward the length.

Log handling

Handling sets Last out on the reptile’s page. It isn’t an event, so it has no History row or reminder.

  • Out just now: In the + menu, select Log Handling
  • Out earlier: In Log event, select Handling and set the time
  • To correct or clear it: Select the pencil beside Last out

Other events

  • Defecation: Choose Defecate, Urate or both
  • Breeding Cycle: Choose what happened
  • Mating: Choose what happened, and the mate under With
  • Notes: Choose a type and add your note
  • Your own categories: Add or hide them in Events & Categories
